Letter to Prime Minister Rajoy from Tibet Justice Center

Filed in Universal jurisdiction by on January 22, 2014

Tibet Justice Center has sent a letter to the Spanish Prime Minister, expressing deep concern about reports in Spain’s main national daily newspaper that the Spanish government intends to limit the independence of Spain’s judiciary.

Reportedly, this move is due to political pressure from China, related to the ground-breaking universal jurisdiction lawsuit on Tibet being heard by the Spanish National Court.

This Tibet lawsuit has resulted in Hu Jintao’s indictment and arrest warrants issued issued for several other Chinese officials.  It has also led the Spanish court to recognize the commission of genocide in Tibet, and declare Tibet an occupied country.
