TIBETAN NATIONAL UPRISING DAY
SUNDAY, MARCH 10TH, 2002

Come lend your voice & walk with us to help stop China from any more acts of terror in Tibet. March 10th, 2002 is the 43rd anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising against the illegal and violent occupation of Tibet by the Chinese Communist Army. Over one million Tibetans have died after the Chinese invasion of their country. Tibetans and their supporters worldwide will be commemorating this day with protests and non-violent demonstrations.

We invite all justice-loving people in the Bay Area to join us at the Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco at 11am on March 10th or earlier in Berkeley to remember the Tibetans; the one million Tibetans who died from war, torture, or famine. And remember those hundreds of Tibetan political prisoners still in Chinese prisons today whose only crime was their nonviolent expression of their belief in a Free Tibet.

Special Guest Speakers: Alice Walker, Author; Tenzin Tethong, former Prime Minister of the Tibetan Gov’t-in-Exile; Dennis Cusack, Pres. Tibet Justice Center, US Rep. Nancy Pelosi or her rep.; Margery Farrar, Special Asst. to US Rep. Tom Lantos; Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown; Berkeley Mayor Shirley Dean; Councilman Kris Worthington & San Francisco Board of Supervisors, President Tom Amianno
