For Immediate Release
Tibet Justice Center will join other leaders in the Tibet support movement in a briefing before the Congressional Human Rights Caucus on Thursday, December 6th at 1:30pm. Eva Herzer, former President of Tibet Justice Center, will represent the center at the hearing. Tibet Justice Center will brief members of Congress on the development of democratic institutions in the Tibetan government in exile. "This is an important time for Congress to address the concerns of the Tibetan people. International support for the Tibetan people sends the message that we can and should support non-violent struggles for freedom," said Tibet Justice Center President Dennis Cusack. Other witnesses at the hearing will include Mike Parmly, author of the State Department's most recent report on religious freedom in Tibet, Bhuchung Tsering, Director of International Campaign for Tibet, and representatives from Radio Free Asia and Amnesty International. The testimony will address human rights developments in Tibet in light of the U.S. government's recent human rights dialogue with China and the events of September 11th. Tibet Justice Center has been supporting the growth of the democratic Tibetan government in exile through many projects including the training of Legislative Counsel, research on forms of autonomy and grassroots education on self-governance.
