MEMORANDUM

PETITION REGARDING A PARLIAMENTARY RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE UN SECRETARY-GENERAL TO WELCOME THE DALAI LAMA

In its public session on june19, 1996, the parliament passed a resolution according to a petition of the Tibet-Unterstuetzung Liechtenstein of April 26,1996, that requests the UN Secretary General to welcome the Dalai Lama, and considering the endangered cultural identity of the Tibetan People, to discuss the following issues:

-the Tibetan Government in Exile's possibility of entering in direct negotiations with the Peoples Republic of China

-the acknowledgement of the practice of Tibetan religion and the Panchen Lama, who has been recognized by the Dalai Lama as being the new reincarnation.

- a stop to be put to the obstruction of the cultural identity of the Tibetan People

The President of Parliament has been charged with the drafting and transmission of a corresponding document.
