Internships and Volunteer Opportunities
Intern, Environment and Development Project
Tibet Justice Center is looking for energetic interns for the Fall 2004
and Winter 2005 terms to work on our Environment and Development Project.
Tibet Justice Center's Environment and Development Project advocates Tibetan
self-determination, specifically the right to control the use of their
natural resources, and educates businesses and other groups about Tibetan
developmental needs and concerns. Tibet Justice Center believes in the
wisdom of training Tibetans to be their own advocates. Therefore, Tibetans
are highly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to learn about
environmental research, networking, and other advocacy skills. All Tibet
Justice Center internships are voluntary and require a minimum time commitment
of at least 12 hours per week for three months. Send a resume and cover
letter to dev@tibetjustice.org stating why you are interested in this
opportunity and what strengths you would bring to the organization.
Intern, Website Development
We are in the midst of adding content to several of the program sections
on our site and are looking for volunteers with writing and editing experience
to assist in the composition of briefing papers and summaries on various
Tibetan human rights and environmental issues. Those interested must be
available a minimum of 6 hours a week. Please email resume, cover letter,
and 2 short writing samples to info@tibetjustice.org.
Volunteering Around the Office
Tibet Justice Center is always looking for people who will do "whatever
is needed" to support our work for Tibet. In an era when internships
and volunteer work are seen as a means "to get ahead," we support
and welcome those individuals who are willing to file, stamp, lick envelopes,
and update databases out of the simple desire to help out the Tibetan
cause. Rather than hearing promises of working tons of hours and trying
to accomplish unrealistic goals, we prefer volunteers who make modest
commitments to come in for a few hours each week and work efficiently
over a longer period of time. To volunteer, please email
us or call (510) 486-0588.
